The 6th Citycell-Channel i Music Awards

6th CCMA Press Conference-Mr. Kafil H.S. Muyeed, Chief Marketing Officer of Citycell, Mr. Faridur Reza Sagar, Managing Director, Impress Telefilms Limited (Channel i) and Mr. Taslim Ahmed, Head of Marketing Communications of Citycell.

Citycell has always taken noteworthy initiatives in enhancing the development of various fields of the country. As continuation of this great initiative, Citycell-Channel i Music Awards was initiated in 2004 to promote Bangladesh's music. And this noble endeavor of Citycell has resulted in great success in every year. Citycell, in association with Channel i is going to organize the 6th Citycell-Channel i Music Awards very soon to honor the country's music artists and talents. Anando Alo and Radio Today are the media partners and www.bdnews24.com is the online newspaper partner of the 6th Citycell-Channel i Music Awards.

A press conference was held in this regard on August 11, 2010 at the office of Channel i. Mr. Kafil H.S. Muyeed, Chief Marketing Officer of Citycell and Mr. Faridur Reza Sagar, Managing Director, Impress Telefilms Limited (Channel i) announced this year's 6th Citycell-Channel i Music Awards. This was followed by a presentation of the past years' Citycell-Channel i Music Awards. After that Mr. Taslim Ahmed, Head of Marketing Communications of Citycell gave a detail overview of the categories and rules of this year’s contest.

The 6th Citycell-Channel i Music Awards will be given in 16 categories. The categories are Classical - Instrumental, Classical - Vocal, Tagore Songs (Rabindra Sangeet), Nazrul Songs (Nazrul Sangeet), Folk Songs (Polli/ Marami), Modern Songs, Motion Picture Sound Track, Band Music, Underground Band (unreleased), Songwriting, New Artiste (male/female), Sound Engineering, Cover Design, Music Direction, Music Video and the Lifetime Achievement Award.

The music award is divided into three stages- primary selection, secondary selection and the final selection. The main process of the award program will start through asking for entries for audio cassettes, audio CDs and VCDs from individuals and production houses released in 2009. The music related albums released from 1st January to 31st December, 2009 from individuals or production houses will be accepted for this competition.

In addition, there will be the 6th Citycell - Channel i Music Awards by Popular Choice based on listeners' or viewers' votes through SMS in different categories like other years' awards.

The music albums for the 6th Citycell - Channel i Music Awards will be received from 12th August to 20th September, 2010 at Channel i- 40, Shahid Tajuddin Ahmed Sarani, Tejgaon, Dhaka.

The gala program of the 6th Citycell - Channel i Music Awards will be held at the upcoming December this year.

Prize giving ceremony of Citycell Football Fever contest

Citycell organized the prize giving ceremony of Phase 2 and Phase 3 of 'Citycell Football Fever', an SMS based quiz contest at its Head Office, Mohakhali, Dhaka on July 14, 2010. Phase 2 of this contest started on June 25, 2010 and continued till July 04, 2010 and Phase 3 started on July 06, 2010 and continued till July 12, 2010. Citycell received huge response from interested participants in this contest.

Attractive prizes were given to the winners of both the phases of 'Citycell Football Fever' contest. Mr. Md. Jakir Hossain, First prize winner of Phase 2 contest received a Nextel Netbook, an Ultra Modem with Connection, and free talk time worth the cost of SMS sent by him in this contest. Second prize winner Mr. Sheikh Mostafizur Rahman won a Samsung F-309 handset, an Ultra Modem with connection, and two nights stay at Hotel Seagull in Cox's Bazar and the 3rd prize winner Mr. Mohammad Hafizur Rahman won a Samsung F-309 handset and two nights stay at Sea Palace Hotel in Cox's Bazar. The other winners were Mr. Md. Faisal and Mr. Golam Mustafa who also won attractive prizes.

After receiving the overwhelming response of the participants in the second phase, Citycell was encouraged to organize the third phase of this contest. Prizes became even more attractive for the winners of Phase 3. The first prize winner Mr. Mohammad Hafizur Rahman received a Nextel Netbook, an Ultra Modem with connection, and free talk time worth the cost of SMS sent by him in this contest. Second prize winner Mr. Masum Billah won a Nextel Netbook and an Ultra Modem with connection and third prize winner Mr. Sheikh Mostafizur Rahman received a Nextel Netbook. Other winners were Mr. Md. Abdul Wadud, Shawpon Kumar Das and Mr. Md. Ariful Haque who also received attractive prizes.

Mr. Kafil H. S. Muyeed, Chief Marketing Officer of Citycell handed over the prizes among the winners. Mr. Taslim Ahmed, Head of Marketing Communications, Mr. Adnan Bin Taj, Manager, Mr. Jakirul Islam, Senior Executive and Mr. Kazi Nazmul Hassan, Executive, VAS and Innovations Department of Citycell were also present on the occasion.

Citycell joins hands with CREA to safeguard the environment

Citycell recently joined hands with the society for Community-health Rehabilitation Education and Awareness (CREA) to save the natural environment through newspaper recycle. CREA is a non-government organization which intends to raise awareness of the mass people on different health, environment and others in the country. Its services include treatment and rehabilitation of drug users of Bangladesh and providing them trainings on different topics.

As a responsible corporate entity, Citycell is also concerned with protecting the environment and different social development initiatives. Citycell provided support to CREA in this regard through giving them old newspapers which will be used in making paper bags by recovering addicts coming from lowest strata of the society in order to reintegrate them to the society at large.

Citycell CMO Mr. Kafil H.S.Muyeed handed over these newspapers to Mr. Tarun Kanti Gayen, CEO of CREA at a program held on 4th July at Citycell's Head Office, Mohakhali. CREA will train its clients on making paper bags with these old newspapers at its Rehabilitation Centre. This initiative will support the clients through creating a source of income and to become self-dependent.

Mr. Taslim Ahmed, Head of Marketing Communications of Citycell and Ms. Kazi Roushan Ara, Resource Coordinator of CREA were also present at the newspaper handover ceremony.

RUET to enjoy Citycell's special voice service

Citycell recently signed a corporate agreement with reputed educational institute Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (RUET). Through this agreement, RUET will enjoy Citycell's Corporate Voice package to meet its communication need.

Professor Dr. Md. Mortuza Ali, Registrar of RUET and Mr. Sharif Shah Jamal Raj, Head of Corporate Business and Strategic Affairs of Citycell signed the agreement on behalf of their respective organizations.

AB Bank, Citycell ink remittance agreement

AB Bank Ltd., country's leading financial institution signed a Remittance Service Agreement with Pacific Bangladesh Telecom Limited, one of the pioneer mobile communications company and the only CDMA mobile operator in the country.

Mr. Kaiser A. Chowdhury, President and Managing Director of AB Bank and Mr. Mehboob Chowdhury, Chief Executive Officer, Pacific Bangladesh Telecom Limited signed the Agreement on behalf of their respective organizations. Other senior officials of both the organizations were present during the event.

Under this agreement, Pacific Bangladesh Telecom Limited Customer Care Points will serve as disbursement centers for inward remittances throughout the country particularly through their 512 CCPs (Customer Care Points) in the course of time. The agreement will substantially increase the flow of inward remittance through AB Bank from Bangladeshi residents residing abroad and support AB Bank's efforts to receive inward remittances from Non-Resident Bangladeshis through official channels and prevent money laundering.
